Pamela Johnson Parker
Narcissus: Narke
Water takes you in.
For days the gods talk
Of nothing but your
Spine in the dark, white
Coral, of how fish
School into your dead
Calm. And still water
Gives you back: thirsting,
Already bent to drink.
