Mark Young, Two Poems

Mark Young

A line from Arthur Cravan

I'm back in the city for
the Pride parade; &
even though I despise
the bar scene I enjoy

the sense of provocation
that comes through
flaunting my—recourse
to resource—Hermès

three-chamber bag with
its open compartments
& a small organizer.
Flag this as inappro-

priate but choosing a
site filled with irony is
only one way to win
a Jason Jessee prize pack—

there are other forums,
especially if you're a
sock puppet with many
different pseudonyms.

A line from Weldon Kees

Political news coverage
which is rich in plant
& nut oils has 50% less
sugar than sports cars

or prize-winning spaniels.
Was why the only sound-
track to his older brother's
puppet porn site was a

light dusting of chamber
music punctuated by the
snap of rubber gloves. Bee-
keeping isn't for everyone.
